You know how sometimes you build up an idea in your mind so much, the reality ends up disappointing you? Well, this is not that kind of story. 🙂 It took us three years to return to Zlatne Skoljke, and it was even better than what we remembered it!
Zlatne Skoljke is a small, family-owned, sea-food restaurant with a 30-year long tradition and domestic atmosphere. You can find it in the heart of Skradin, a charming small fishermen’s town between Sibenik and Split, at the entrance of Krka National Park.
We visited Skradin three years ago with great friends and fell in love both with the town and the exquisite cuisine of Zlatne Skoljke. So it was my big wish to visit it again on our way back from Cote d’Azur (link to french riviera dog post).
Everything was as we imagined it. We were greeted by the owners, recommended fresh fish and well taken care of. To our great relief, Lorry was welcome as well. He got a water bowl and he wrestled with a praying mantis; the praying mantis managed to escape. 😀
The food was simply exquisite! This is one of the best sea-food restaurants I have ever been to. Everything we tried was great, from risotto with prawns to home-made crapes with apricot marmalade and walnuts (just like my grandma makes them).
No wonder they have been on the list of 100 leading Croatian restaurants since 2004.
We wholeheartedly recommend Zlatne Skoljke and Skradin in general. It’s small, charming and not too crowded. And Krka National Park is certainly worth a visit. 🙂
